Disaster Recovery |
| |
Whether predicted or sudden, a natural disaster can leave hundreds of horses homeless and separated from their owners. Don't take a chance. Make sure you can claim YOUR horse after such an event. Make sure no one else does.
And make sure that you register all of your information, and an alternate contact, in HORSEtrac™, so that caregivers can contact you after an evacuation or disaster.
Carry your HORSEcard™ in your wallet at all times, right next to your driver's license.
"Last year, rural San Diego County was ravaged by firestorms, forcing the evacuation of thousands of horses. In the weeks that followed, hundreds of horses were lost, as owners had no idea which evacuation sites may be holding their livestock.
This year we held an Equine Microchip Clinic. Of course, after doing our research, we decided to use the AVID microchip.
We chipped 80 animals today! Thank you for making our clinic a success! We are already planning our next one."

Do Not Wait...It is better to be prepared! |
A microchip in your horse is like any protective device, 'It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it'.
NORTH FLORIDA HORSE RESCUE seems to have made this their motto, after members witnessed first-hand the ravages of Hurricane Katrina.
NFHR has set about the task of making sure horses in their hurricane zone are protected and can get back to their owners should disaster strike.
