It should not satisfy just one criteria in a horse’s life, but should offer protection, and security on many different levels to both horse and owner.   We hope you will choose to microchip your horse for the many good and obvious reasons presented on this site. While the stated goal of the USDA is to protect the American livestock herd from intentional or unintentional disease outbreak, it does not have to be the only reason to microchip your horse. Our HORSEtrac™ network provides privacy for you. Our microchip program has been in place and working for almost 20 years. You have our assurance that if, and when, the NAIS finally comes to horses, the AVID EquineChip already at work will also comply with government requirements.
