Introduction

Identification of individual animals has always been an important component in regulatory medicine. RFID (microchip technology) provides a permanent, unalterable means of ID that is attached to the animal via ear tag (production animals) or injectable (equine). It is convenient and can be read on demand for immediate animal ID confirmation.

AVID® works directly with government agencies. Our products are in high demand and are used for many regulatory programs.

With the NAIS under development, microchips will be included as a recognized means of ID in horses. As this program progresses, regulatory officials will have a need for further understanding of RFID standards, compatibility and functionality.

You will find that information on this website in various places. The
Info Library will be updated to keep you informed regarding the National Animal ID System and how it pertains to the equine species.
