Yes. The AVID EquineChip™ can be read by most scanners worldwide.
Does the microchip 'wear out' or stop working?
No. The chip is guaranteed for the life of the horse.
Can the microchip be 'erased' with a magnet or powerful electricity?
No.
Can the chip be programmed to contain special information?
No.
How can the microchip help recover my horse?
When the chip is scanned by law enforcement officials, disaster workers or veterinarians, a phone call goes into HORSEtrac™, the 24 hour disaster and recovery network for horses. Your registered owner information is immediately available.
Does the microchip enable my horse to be located using GPS tracking equipment or satellite?
No. The technology to incorporate GPS into a tiny injectable chip is not currently available.
